Ceramic Magnet

One of the most popular types of magnets in speakers and pickups is the ceramic magnet. A ceramic (or “ferrite”) magnet consists of iron oxide combined with other metallic elements in a ceramic compound. “Hard ferrite” magnets, such as bronium and strontium ferrites, maintain their magnetism permanently, making them ideal for speakers and pickups. Sonically, ceramic magnets have a stronger magnetic field than alnico magnets, giving them a higher output and slightly hotter treble response.
