Though he passed away in 2005, Bob Moog’s legacy is certain to live on for decades – or maybe even generations – to come. The last synth he designed, the Little Phatty, is already on its way to becoming a best seller, and is scrambling to keep up with the unprecedented demand. Now comes word of the Bob Moog Memorial Foundation for Electronic Music and its new Web site, which went live yesterday. The Foundation’s director, Moog’s daughter, Michelle Moog-Koussa, has set forth its objectives, which include special endowed scholarships at the University of North Carolina-Asheville, Berklee School of Music, and Cornell University. There are also plans for an outreach/mentoring program specifically aimed at disadvantaged students. A Memorial Museum in Bob’s name is also in the works. To achieve these goals, the Foundation will accept contributions and pledges both large and small. A special Documentary Podcast is available online.
