If your wish-list of samples for your Reason-based studio includes bass guitars, you can put a check next to that item. That’s because the good people at Propellerheads Software have announced the Electric Bass Refill for Reason, the company’s best-selling (and critically acclaimed) music production system for Mac and PC. This collection consists of a number of Combinator patches for Reason 4 with multisamples of eight of the most famous basses ever built: From Fender, there’s the dual-pickup Jazz Bass and the original Precision Bass (with both roundwound and flatwound strings!); Gibson’s Les Paul and EB-0 bass guitars; a Kay hollowbody bass; Rickenbacker 4001 (Paul McCartney’s other bass); and finally, a MusicMan Stingray fretless! Each patch has a number of embellishments such as release samples, hammer-ons, and glissandos, meaning you have access to a very musical set of bass sounds for any style of music from rock to country to jazz. The collection ships on two DVDs containing both 16- and 24-bit versions, all captured using Propellerhead’s Hypersampling method, with multiple velocity levels and both miked and DI versions. Reason Electric Bass is the fourth in a series of hypersampled ReFills that includes the rest of your rhythm section, like Reason Pianos and Reason Drum Kits. The library is expected to be available on May 28th. Of course your Sweetwater Sales Engineer has all the info, including pricing and availability!
