With Mezzo from Grey Matter Response, backing up and restoring a Digital Performer project is as simple as drag and drop. Not only will Mezzo back up the project file, but it also searches for all related audio, analysis and fade files and transfers them to archiving media (even if files are spread across many storage devices). Mezzo tracks the project so every time a sequence is saved Mezzo scans for changes, such as new tracks, and adds these items to its database for backup. This could be a life saver if your time and money depends on reliable backup!
There have been a lot of rumors flying around recently about Alesis and their future (or possible lack thereof). The official word is that they are beginning a company-wide restructuring in an effort to refocus on their core business and ensure a smooth launch of newer products. You will see some distribution changes among some of their products in the coming months, but for the most part things will stay about the same as we all continue to hold our breath waiting for the highly anticipated HD24 recorder, which is probably still at least a couple of months away from shipping (that’s our guess, not hard information from Alesis).
