Avoiding Pops and Thumps

Many users of audio equipment and instrument amplifiers complain of loud thumps and pops when powering up or powering down gear. It is normal for upstream devices to send out transients upon power up or down. This is why we always follow the Golden Rule of Power Sequencing: Power amps (or powered speakers) turn on last and turn off first.

If you follow this rule when powering your studio, PA system, or instrument rig up or down you will never put your speakers or your ears at risk.
