Avid has released Pro Tools 12.5 and Pro Tools HD 12.5. The big news in this version is the arrival of Avid Cloud Collaboration, which brings to fruition the ongoing addition of new Pro Tools features, such as Commit, Freeze, and more, released in earlier Pro Tools versions.
Cloud Collaboration uses a new type of Pro Tools session, called a “project,” that is “cloud enabled.” Cloud Collaboration allows the owner of the project to invite other Pro Tools users to collaborate on a track-by-track basis, from anywhere there is an active internet connection. Session data is transferred quickly between collaborators in real time and an Artist Chat window allows the collaborators to communicate.
Other new features include exporting timecode with QuickTime bounce, Pro Tools Avid Interplay enhancement for using XDCAM MXF media with Send to Playback, and an updated AVE (Avid Video Engine with general stability improvements.
