Q: “Is there a way to connect a (Roland) VS-2400CD to my computer for audio transfer?”
A: The VS-2400CD features a large assortment of inputs and outputs, so you could connect it to your computer with just about any audio interface on the market. If you don’t already own an audio interface, the VS-2400CD has an R-BUS connector on the back of it that would allow up to 8 channels of audio to be transferred at once – extremely efficient for multitrack projects. In that case, all you need is an R-BUS PCI card for your computer and you’re set. R-BUS looks like many other multi-pin connectors (similar to a parallel or SCSI port – flat and long), and it Roland’s answer to multitrack digital transfer. It’s a Roland only protocol, but it’s rock solid and works extremely well. For that matter, the R-BUS connector on the back of the VS-2400CD will let you connect it to another VS-2400CD or any other device with an R-BUS connector.
