Antelope Audio has announced the release of four new classic hardware-based, vintage-style EQs for the Orion 32+ Thunderbolt audio interface. These new equalizers — free of charge for new and existing Orion 32+ owners — utilize Antelope’s proprietary Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology for near-zero latency, true sonic authenticity, and no hit on the computer’s CPU resources.
The new EQs are included free of charge with the latest Orion 32+ driver updates, which can be downloaded from the Antelope site. In addition to the equalizers, other enhancements in this release include the ability to control the Orion 32+ from several different computers on the same network; ideal for multi-room facilities, schools, churches, and more. The panels on the software interface may now be detached and rearranged as well.
The four new EQs for the Orion 32+ include:
- VEQ-1A: This EQ breathes new life into a classic — a legendary 60-year-old passive tube EQ that became an integral part of every top-tier professional studio in the world. Unlike the original hardware version, the VEQ-1A can be used in stereo link mode. The ability to simultaneously cut and boost the same frequency imparts a unique sound unattainable with any other EQ.
- VMEQ-5: The VMEQ-5 excels in shaping midrange frequencies for adding a unique analog punch to vocals, synths, or guitars. It’s also great on snare drum, or to clean up muddy-sounding midrange.
- VEQ-55: This EQ is designed to emphasize details in the mix, while adding body and sheen to instruments such as guitar, bass, and drums.
- BAE 1073: BAE Audio is known for its faithful renditions of vintage gear, and this EQ is no exception. With the BAE 1073, users can access the classic warm and punchy large-console sound of the ’70s in a pristine, digital format.
