Amp Volume Management

Need to drop the level of your guitar amp for a particularly quiet gig or for bedroom practicing? If your amp has two input jacks, it’s likely that the second jack has a lower gain than the first input jack — often there’s a 6dB drop when you plug into the second jack instead of the first. Ostensibly, this is to compensate for hot pickup output levels, but it can also be used to your advantage to drop the volume of the amp.
