It’s here! Ableton today announced the release of Live 5.2, which delivers on the promise of native Intel-Mac support. This makes Live one of the first pro audio applications on the market to run as a Universal Binary to take advantage of Apple’s new blazing fast computers. The catch? While Intel-Mac users who purchased Live 5 after Steve Jobs’ announcement of the new Intel-based Macs on January 10, 2006 will receive the Live 5.2 download at no additional charge, it’ll cost the rest of us $49 to purchase a Live 5.2 serial number at the Ableton Web site. For Live 5 users on PCs and PowerPC Mac machines, Live 5.2 will be released as a free bug-fix update. The company also confirmed that Live 6, which is scheduled for release in Q3, is on schedule.
