ISA Range
No-compromise mic pres descended from legendary consoles
Focusrite created the ISA 110 for Sir George Martin’s Neve console at Air Studios in 1985. And ever since, the Focusrite name has been associated with no-compromise mic pres. The legacy of the original ISA 110 endures today within the Focusrite ISA range and in every mic pre the company designs.
The term “ISA” is an acronym for “Input Signal Amplifier.” Today’s range of Focusrite ISA products is directly descended from the original Focusrite Forte consoles of the late ’80s and the Studio Console the company developed in subsequent years. The core modules of those iconic consoles live on in the current range of now-classic ISA products. Each ISA offering includes a Lundahl LL1538 input transformer and a custom Zobel network, which only reinforces their sought-after sound.

For a 2-room Pro Tools | HD studio setup, RedNet allows seamless integration with the Dante network. Control room monitoring and line inputs are provided via a Red 16Line fitted with a Pro Tools | HDX card, fed by an ISA 430 MkII channel strip front end. In the live room, two RedNet MP8R units provide 16 channels of remote control mic pres, while two RedNet AM2 units provide artist monitoring. A network switcher is used for routing flexibility.
Simple Studio Setup
In this configuration, which uses a single network switch as its hub, the control room plays host to a Red 4Pre, connected to a computer via Thunderbolt and feeding powered monitors. In the live room, a RedNet MP8R provides eight preamps, while a RedNet X2P supplies headphone monitoring. Another X2P handles mic preamplification and artist headphone monitoring for the vocal booth.
House of Worship & Live Applications
RedNet is also scalable for use in larger facilities. For front of house, four RedNet MP8R units feed the console with 32 mic preamps. A RedNet AM2 provides headphone monitoring at the mix position, while a RedNet D16R feeds the PA speaker arrays. A RedNet A16R feeds powered speakers in a spillover room. Each switch in the system provides breakout/in on Ethernet ports to which all connections are made via Cat 6 cabling. For the recording studio, a feed is sent to a second switch, which is connected to a computer and a Red 16Line, which in turn feeds the studio monitors.
Multiroom Educational Facility
This facility has three control rooms, a machine room, a live room and vocal booth, and a concert hall at a separate location. The three control rooms each employ a computer and a Red 16Line fitted with a Pro Tools | HDX card, all feeding the network switcher in the machine room. In the live room, also connected to the machine room switcher, is a RedNet MP8R (with eight preamps) and one or more RedNet AM2 units for artist headphone monitoring. The vocal booth is outfitted with a RedNet X2P, which handles mic preamplification and artist headphone monitoring. At the concert hall, another network switch receives feeds from four RedNet MP8R units (for a total of 32 preamps) and a RedNet AM2 for local headphone monitoring. The remote switcher sends an output feed to the main machine room switcher.
