We posted a teaser back on December 8 about the upcoming release of the next version of Pro Tools, and now the release date is here! Avid has unveiled Pro Tools 12.7, which includes a variety of new features, including many that are targeted toward musicians and composers.
- Adds support for Pro Tools MTRX
- Cool new Project Revision History feature for managing different versions of projects — use the new “Save As New Version” command with Project Notes that can be added/edited/renamed or viewed with the new Revision History Window along with Save History. You can restore any version and it will intelligently help keep track of and manage conflicts between shared tracks in different versions of a project. You can also use Import Session Data to import project data from any version of the project.
- A new Workspace feature called “Soundbase” makes it easier to find audio files and loops using tags. You can search based on musical metadata criteria such as tempo, key, and meter. Use Favorites and Ratings in Workspace browsers to quickly filter search results. Add, edit, remove, and create new tags for selected audio files and loops and then search using those tags.
- A new 1.5GB loop library called “Loopmaster Sample Pack 1.0.”
- Change Fade Shapes in the Edit Window with keyboard shortcuts.
- Clip Effects Quick Presets option for Save Copy In and Export Selected Tracks as Session Dialog (HD Only)
- Spot audio to the Edit location from Workspace browsers.
NOTE: Good news if you’re a Pro Tools Native user who has let their Pro Tools Upgrade plan lapse.
