Octave Pedal

A stompbox effect that blends the dry signal with one or more signals that are one or more octaves higher or lower than the original. Original, analog octave effects such as the Octavia — made famous by Jimi Hendrix — offered a single octave above the input signal, and the tracking was prone to glitching and error and only really suitable for single-note playing (it couldn’t track all the notes in a chord). Modern digital octave pedals often use DSP algorithms and offer multiple octaves and glitch-free tracking of complete chords as well as single-note melodies.
