In this video I am demonstrating the Pearl Chad Smith LTD Signature Snare. This snare drum has some big time WOW factor built in. The first thing you will notice with this drum is the look. It has two brass rings and one steel ring that are interchangeable if you like. The drum has some nice weight to it that lends itself to Chad Smith’s style of drumming. This drum is indeed great for grooving rock music but after playing it for a while I found it could easily do the job playing pop, funk, jazz, or any other style of music. This is a well-constructed drum that could have many uses.
The Pearl Chad Smith LTD Signature Snare is a 6.5″ x 14″ hybrid brass and steel drum that is Free Floating. Free Floating is a system where none of the lugs are attached to the drum shell; in fact, the shell is a separate from the rest of the drum and comes out as soon as you take the top head off. Add to that the fact that the shell is actually three separate rings that came be combined in any order, and you have one technically advanced snare drum. It comes with a unique throw-off and strainer that are easily adjustable, and once you get the wires where you like them they get locked into place.
