Mesa/Boogie has announced a new compact amplifier, the Mark Five: 25 — a downsized version of the Mark V head that provides all the tone of the original in a smaller (14″ wide), lighter (only 16.5 pounds!) package, with less power for manageable power levels in all size venues. The Mark Five: 25 features two channels, one covering clean/fat/crunch and the other handling Boogie Mark IIc+, Mark IV, and Xtreme gain tones. Each channel has its own controls, including Dyna-Watt power switching from 25 watts down to 10 watts. An assignable 5-band EQ is built in, as is a CabClone Direct Recording Interface. The all-tube Mark Five: 25 is built around a 2xEL84 power section and six 12ax7, with a tube-driven reverb and tube-buffered footswitchable effects loop.
