The late Bon Scott, original lead singer with AC/DC who passed away in 1980, is being honored with a monument in his birthplace. The town of Kirrimuir, Scotland, where Scott was born in 1946, is putting up a statue of the singer. Sculptor John McKenna will be designing the statue. The annual Bon Scott Music Festival is also hosted by Kirrimuir and a street in the town is named for Scott.
This is not the first statue dedicated to Bon Scott. His family moved to Australia when he was 6 years old and his adopted hometown there, Claremont, erected a statue honoring him in 2008 at the Freemantle Fishing Boat Harbour.
