The American Standard 2012 Series continues Fender’s electric guitar and bass legacy, with a refreshed line of instruments sporting significant improvements you’ll love. New for 2012, American Standard guitars and basses (with the exception of 5-string models) come loaded with Fender Custom Shop pickups as well as other great new features. Built in Corona, California, these iconic instruments celebrate over 60 years of Fender innovation.
The American Standard Stratocaster is upgraded for 2012 with aged plastic parts and Custom Shop Fat ’50s pickups. With hand-beveled, staggered Alnico 5 magnets and Formvar magnet wire, Fat ’50s serve up the authentic cleans of a 1950s Strat — but with a tad more attitude. The American Standard Stratocaster HSS puts a muscular Diamondback humbucker at the bridge, for a Strat that blazes with warmth and output. On both Strats, sustain gets a shot in the arm, courtesy of a new copper-infused high-mass bridge block with bent-steel saddles with elongated string slots.
Fender juiced the 2012 American Standard Telecaster with a pair of magnificent-sounding Custom Shop pickups: a Twisted Tele at the neck and a Broadcaster at the bridge. Plus, you get a comfy body contour — all the more reason to love the Tele!
The 2012 American Standard Precision Bass gets a Fender Custom Shop ’60s Precision Bass split single-coil pickup for punchy definition and seismic bottom end. The P Bass is the quintessential electric bass, and now it’s better than ever.
In addition to its legendary offset-waist body and slender neck design, the latest incarnation of Fender’s American Standard Jazz Bass features Custom Shop ’60s Jazz Bass pickups that deliver classic J Bass growl, with power to spare.
All American Standard Fenders get a new thinner undercoat for 2012, which allows the body to resonate more. The result? A tough-as-nails modern finish, with tonal characteristics more in line with classic lacquer finishes. Speaking of finishes, Fender has rolled out a new one for 2012: Jade Pearl Metallic. Take it from us, it’s gorgeous! All the American Standards give you hand-rolled fingerboard edges for buttery playability, as well as updated fast-playing satin neck finishes. They come in both right- and left-handed versions, and ship with premium hardshell cases.
