New in stock at Sweetwater Sound: A couple of new goodies from Digidesign. First, their new Bruno Reso cross synthesis TDM plug-in. It sounds unlike anything we’ve heard, producing very complex new sounds from existing audio controlled by MIDI. Also new is their 18gig Digi Drive. It’s just as quiet as their 9gig version (which is very, very quiet), but is even faster. Thus far we’ve had virtually no problems with Digi drives. They may cost slightly more than the typical Computer Shopper model, or the one you can pick up from your cousin Bubba who works down at the local store, but the peace of mind that comes with these drives is worth it.
After a long wait and a ton of testing, Kurzweil is finally officially releasing what is likely to be the last ever update to the K2000 operating system. Version 3.87 sports improvements in the area of SCSI loading speed and compatibility, adds standard MIDI type 1 file compatibility, looped .wav file compatibility, directly reads K2500 programs, faster sample editing, and of course fixes a number of bugs we’ve all been living with. We don’t expect to actually have them in stock for at least a couple more weeks, but you should get your orders in soon if you want one. The K2000 has been a truly amazing product. Version 1 was released way back in 1991 and here we are eight years later with it still being updated. How many other keyboards have had active support and OS upgrades like this for eight long years? The cost of the upgrade will be $99, but as always people who recently purchased a K2 will be protected and get their upgrades for free or at greatly reduced cost.
Sweetwater has just lowered the price of the Marantz CDR-630 CD recorder by $200! This puts it squarely down in the bottom dollar realm even though it has fully professional features. It’s really a great value at these low prices. Call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for details.
