The PC based software sampler in its current version sports an extremely impressive list of specifications; most interesting of which is it’s ability to play samples by streaming audio off a hard drive.
Just when you thought it was safe to kick back and start actually using your computer, Intel comes along with new, faster stuff. They are coming out with a series of new processors in the 800 – 850 MHz range and slashing prices of older models. Of course the new AMD Athlon 850 MHz chips are available now as well, though we recommend caution with AMD chips. There are some digital audio products that will not work with them. Not to be outdone, both Intel and AMD are threatening 1GHz chips sometime in the second quarter of this year according to a report on ZDNet.

There’s also a special section devoted to their very cool Extension 78 TDM user interface plug-in, which provides a clever way of integrating high-end audio tools like these into the highly automated Pro Tools environment.
