Fire up the band. It’s Election Day! Not only do we get new government representation, but it also represents an end to the mounds of political junk mail and bad advertisements. What better to play all the requisite political march songs than a great organ? Korg has shipped us the new CX-3, their best electronic organ ever. Many of you are familiar with Korg’s proud tradition of great organs so you probably know what to expect from the CX-3. But we’re here to tell you it’s even better than that. If you want a real sounding organ that doesn’t break your back this is the ticket (Ticket, get it? That was a really bad pun.). Hold the groans, or sample them and send them as MP3 files.
What could possibly be better than the Sweetwater monthly Web Prize? How about TWO prizes? That’s right, our special Web giveaway for November includes two incredible tools you can win. First up is the Rane VP-12 Voice Processor, a pristine sounding unit that includes all of the basics for obtaining a great vocal sound. Second, we have the top of the line Marantz CDR631 CD recorder valued at over $750. This is a serious pro unit that can write to pro and consumer CD-R and CD-RW media. And it’s all for FREE courtesy of Sweetwater.
The end of an era, or is it just a new millennium? Just a couple of weeks ago there was major news about the impending restructuring of AT&T, one of the staples of big, corporate America. In a much less newsworthy event, but perhaps just as telling for our industry, Vari-Lite International, who owns 1970’s sound company giant Showco, has agreed to sell it to Clair Brothers Audio. Meanwhile the wars rage on at Napster and MP3.com (a topic we have intentionally steered clear of since there is so much written about it already). If it seems like the world isn’t changing much from your point of view you should take a break and check back in two years. Hang on. It’s going to be a fun ride folks.
