Felt Tip software has recently updated their very inexpensive Sound Studio two track editing application for Mac. Version 1.4.5 can record from any Sound Manager device, and it can do this while playing back other files or while you are working in other programs. The editing capabilities are basic, but work well, and it’s only $25.
Serato is releasing version 2 of their awesome Pitch ‘n Time plug-in for Pro Tools. For those not already familiar, Pitch ‘n Time is based on a completely new, patent pending algorithm that time stretches and pitch shifts audio with totally unprecedented quality. The new 2.01 version is fully Mac and PC compatible, has a multi-mode for processing up to 48 tracks at once while maintaining phase coherency, variable tempo mapping gives you the power to create tempo maps that change over the length of your sample, and much more. One of the coolest features is Time-Morph, which allow you to drop a marker anywhere in an audio event and then stretch the audio by moving it. It’s really wild. You can download a demo at their website.
