Does time fly or what? The folks at Blue Microphones are celebrating ten years in the business. Seems like just yesterday we first saw those cool-looking new mics like the Dragonfly, the Kiwi, the Cactus, and The Bottle. Clearly, the success of this relative newcomer to the audio market proves that engineers, producers, and performers are all still excited by imaginative new concepts, great designs and superior performance! Blue was founded in 1995 by Skipper Wise, an accomplished musician and producer and electronics engineer Martins Saulespurens.
Assembled at night over a kitchen table, the first Blue mics were used by a small circle of audio industry veterans, all tough critics who raved about the new mics’ sound and quality. Blue then began small-scale manufacturing in Martins’ home country of Latvia, and as new mics were introduced and sales increased, the company opened a small office in Southern California. Today, Blue has a state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Riga, Latvia, and in Westlake Village, California, complete with an industry-standard clean room for capsule assembly and a custom-built training and recording studio where all Blue products are put through their paces. We can’t wait to see what the geniuses at Blue have in store for us over the next ten years!
