Music World Loses R&B Star

Lou Rawls, the multi-Grammy-winning rhythm and blues artist, passed away last Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles as the result of lung cancer. According to his spokesman, Rawls was in his early 70s. He will be remembered for hit records like “Lady Love,” “Tobacco Road” and “You’ll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine).” During his long career, which spanned more than 40 years, Rawls won a total of three Grammy awards and 13 nominations. He also worked with other artists such as The Beatles, Sam Cooke, and Joe Williams in such diverse styles as gospel, jazz, and doo-wop. He is survived by his wife, Nina, and four children.
