Apogee Electronics Corporation has just made a lot of musicians and recording engineers happy by releasing Stand-Alone Mode firmware for Ensemble, the company’s digitally controlled, multi-channel audio interface. Stand-Alone Mode allows Ensemble to function without being connected by FireWire to a Macintosh computer and offers professionals the option to use their Ensemble as a high-end converter and mic preamp
Using Maestro and a Mac, users can configure their low latency and routing settings once, after which Ensemble remembers the settings, even when disconnected from the computer. This allows access to all front-panel settings, such as mic pre gain and output levels, which are then fully functional while in Stand-Alone Mode.
