Marvin Isley, the youngest of the Isley Brothers, passed away on Sunday morning. Isley joined the Isley Brothers band in 1973, playing bass. (The group had already had several hits, including “Shout,” “Twist and Shout,” “Love The One You’re With,” and “It’s Your Thing.”) Marvin left the Isleys in the 1980s to form Isley-Jasper-Isley, but returned to the Brothers in the ’90s. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted the Isley Brothers in 1992. In 1996, Marvin stopped performing with the group after he lost his legs and the use of his left hand from a stroke resulting from diabetes. He settled a lawsuit against his siblings in 2000 over elder brother O’Kelly Isley’s estate and a plagiarism award against vocalist Michael Bolton.
