I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Alesis Ion for a few days and am quite glad I did. This analog modeling synth is very powerful and has an amazing number of high quality sounds. Right out of the box you can scroll through the 512 presets and find a sound that exactly what you wanted if not better. The sound quality is surprisingly versatile, with warm fat synth tones to lush and sparkly pads. There are even great sounding synth drums great for dance and hip-hop. On top of the sound and versatility, this is an extremely cool product with great style. The abundance of knobs, lights, and illuminated controls makes it even more fun and addicting to use.
I think this synth is great for any synth player looking for versatile sounds and analog emulation without the hassles and limitations of true analog synths. Whether you are into hip-hop, dance, electronica, rock or even sound design this piece will work great in your studio or stage rig.
