Band Limit

The maximum number of members you can have in your band before no one can agree on anything. But seriously, band limit refers to limiting the range of frequencies allowed to pass in a system. In audio, filters are often employed to band limit sounds. If you look at the full spectrum of audio as having some number of audio bands (like on an Equalizer) then band limiting is simply chopping of some number of them, usually at one or both ends, and not allowing that audio to pass. This leaves the remaining audio intact, though it is now “band-limited.”
