WIMP

In human-computer interaction, WIMP stands for Windows, Icons, Menus, and Pulldowns, denoting a style of interaction using these elements. It was often used as an approximate synonym of graphical user interfaces. WIMP interaction was developed at Xerox PARC in 1973 and popularized by the Macintosh in 1984.

Nowadays, if you’re calling your computer a wimp, it’s probably due to a lack of RAM or processor power, however, prior to the use of the graphical user interface (GUI), the acronym WIMP was also used in a derogatory manner by those who preferred more traditional command-line interfaces.
