Much like non-destructive recording, with non-destructive editing, any processing of audio data occurs virtually – the original audio files aren’t altered in any way. The editing functions are a map of the actual audio data, which never affect the recorded source audio. All edits that you make are literally directions that tell your hard drive where to look for data and how to arrange it for playback. An edit play list is the mechanism by which these instructions are carried out in proper sequence.
