This an unofficial word originally coined and now widely used by collectors to describe a Gibson Les Paul in which the red stain in a sunburst finish has faded away, leaving only the base color, which is typically yellow or may be an amber hue. If the base color is particularly bright, this finish may also be referred to by collectors as “Lemon Drop.”
