Although this normally refers to the component of a cello or doublebass (usually metal) that extends from the bottom of the instrument (when set in playing position) and makes contact with the floor for stability and support, it may also be used to refer to the rear strap button (closest to the bridge) on an acoustic guitar, particularly when it is combined with an output jack for an onboard pickup system.
