Our "Mastermind Behind The Sweetwater Web Site", Dave Schmid, donated the following tip for those using PCs to record audio: When recording audio files, Windows stores summary information into the .wav file header. Programs will ignore or use this summary, depending on the information it contains. (This "extra" information may include what program made the file, icons, composer and engineer credits, copyrights, and a host of other information.) Unfortunately, in many Windows programs, this extra info often shows up as a "pop" at the end of the audio file. The solution? In SoundForge 4.0 you can turn off summary information. There is also a freeware program called "StripWav" by Timothy John Weber, which will remove the summary from the header.
