Here’s another practical Kurzweil suggestion from the V.A.S.T. Master, Chief Soundware Engineer (and proud new father) Daniel Fisher:
If you’re using your K2000 or K2500 in a live performance situation where you can’t choose your programs until the last minute, try this trick:
Go to Channel 1 and dial up a program you think you’ll need, then use the "CHAN/BANK" button or "Chan +" to get you to MIDI channel 2. Dial in another program and then go to channel 3, etc. Now as you’re playing you can get to these newly selected programs quickly by changing MIDI channels.
Pressing "Chan+" and "Chan-" together is a shortcut to getting back to MIDI channel 1.
Note: If you have a K2000/K2vx with an Engine version below v3.5 you will only be able to have programs with 3 or fewer layers on all of the channels except one (your Drum Channel). K2500’s (and K2000/K2vx’s with the upcoming v 3.5 OS and P-RAM) can have 8 channels with programs containing more than 3 layers.
If you have plenty of time in advance it’s even better to make your own QA Banks, but this MIDI Channel trick works great in a pinch.
