Using a remote keyboard controller with your Kurzweil K2000 or K2500? Sweetwater’s Chief Soundware Engineer, Daniel Fisher, has the following tip for you:
Many strap-on remote MIDI controllers have limited ability in changing octaves. Some can only go up or down 1 octave, some can’t even do that! Here’s a trick that will add a lot more octave ranges to these keyboards:
First, determine which MIDI channel you are sending out from your controller. Then go to your Kurzweil’s MIDI Receive Page and set the Local Keyboard Channel (LocalKdbCh) to the same MIDI channel as your remote.
Now you can change octaves as much as you want simply by using the "Octav-" and "Octav+" buttons on your Kurzweil’s front panel. (Hint: Pressing "Octav-" and "Octav+" simultaneously is a shortcut for returning to octave 0.)
An additional benefit of this trick is that you can now use your remote keyboard controller to correctly play all the Zones of a Kurzweil Setup, regardless of what MIDI channels are used for each Zone!
