13 feet by 26 feet, huh? I’m sure you realize that 26 feet is a multiple of 13 feet. This is bad. No matter where you place the speakers you are going to have serious problems in this room unless significant measures are taken with acoustics treatment. That said, I would place the speakers somewhere near the middle of one of the long walls. Keeping them as far as possible away from the sidewalls will help reduce reflections that will kill your imaging. If possible put diffusion or absorption on the ceiling and back wall opposite the speakers. Corners are the last place you should put most speakers so stay away from that. Hanging is a decent alternative, but a good pair of speaker stands will do just fine. If you have speaker stands that have a hollow inside fill them with sand.
