Keep Cable Runs Short

Many guitarists rely on pedalboards to conveniently transport and manage the stompboxes they use to create their tone. For best results when using a pedalboard, keep the cables that run between the various pedals as short as possible. All those cable lengths are cumulative; by the time your guitar‘s signal runs through the cable that connects it to the pedalboard, through all the pedals and cables between them, and through the cable from the pedalboard to the amp, the signal could be passing through a LOT of wire. Buffered pedals help to maintain signal quality with long cables, but true bypass pedals do not have any sort of signal conditioning. In either case, running through needlessly long cables can be detrimental to signal quality.
