A pickup selector switch found on certain electric guitars that has five positions, and therefore allows for five combinations of pickups. This is the switch most commonly found on Fender Stratocasters and other guitars with three single-coil pickups. Note that a five-way switch does not allow for every possible pickup combination on an electric guitar with three pickups, so in custom guitars, often different or additional switches are used to allow access to even more pickup combinations. On a Stratocaster, for example, pickup selections with a five-way switch include: bridge, bridge+middle, middle, middle+neck, and neck.
