MOTU’s brand new FireWire flagship audio interface is the 896HD. A 2U rack spaced audio interface, the 896HD delivers sample rates up to 192kHz, and offers onboard latency free mixing and monitoring via the CueMix DSP (integrated processor card built into the 896HD and 828mkII).
The Ins and Outs!
Able to be used in both Windows and Macintosh supported DAWs, the 896HD supplies a multitude of I/O options: Eight built-in microphone preamps with independent switchable Phantom power and front panel trim controls, ADAT digital I/O, AES/EBU, plus Word Clock and ADAT Sync.
The front panel sports 10-segment meters for every input and output – extremely unique but useful for a rack mounted audio interface of this nature. Like all FireWire interfaces from MOTU, the 896HD is expandable. Up to four of them can be connected to a single FireWire bus to construct a 32-channel analog recording system! Finally, the new 896HD takes on the look of MOTU’s newly designed audio and MIDI interfaces with soft, round edges and removable rack ears.
