Players who prefer more grit from their acoustic guitar amplification are in for a treat with the Deltoluxe acoustic soundhole pickup by Gretsch. This single-coil magnetic soundhole pickup comes preinstalled on two of Gretsch’s most popular acoustic guitars. Now, you can add a Deltoluxe pickup to virtually any guitar with a standard soundhole. The Deltoluxe narrows the gap between electric and acoustic guitar pickups with its single-coil electronics, eliminating the clunky attack or “quack” of piezo acoustic-electric pickups that some find unappealing. The result is an extremely responsive and warm, open sound at lower volumes or a raunchier, thicker, and more assertive sound at high volumes. Players tend to have no trouble installing this pickup DIY, but you can have a qualified tech (such as those at the Sweetwater service center) permanently install your Deltaluxe. The included hard-wired end pin jack facilitates acoustic amp or PA system connections, but Gretsch highly recommends trying out the Deltoluxe with smaller electric guitar combos. Doing so adds tantalizing Delta flavor that’s great for acoustic blues, slide guitar, and even lo-fi tones with a dreamy vintage vibe!
