Compressor Pedal with 6-band EQ
J. Rockett Audio Designs’ IQ Compressor is a compressor with a 6-band graphic EQ. The EQ is pre-compressor — an arrangement that gives you control over which frequencies, based on their gain settings, get compressed harder. Each EQ frequency slider has an 18dB boost/cut range. The IQ compressor is equipped with volume and mix controls. Volume adjusts the output level and the Mix control blends your compressed and dry signals. The slight volume bump as you engage the Mix control can be mitigated with the Volume pot.
Pre-comp 6-band graphic EQ
By positioning the equalizer before the compressor in the circuit, the IQ pedal gives you tons of control over your tone. The EQ center frequencies are 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, and 3200Hz; by pushing one or more of these sliders harder into the compressor you can, for instance, punch up your low end while smoothing out the highs — or vice versa. Experimenting with frown- and smiley-face curves can yield guitar tones that work wonders in any track.
