An Original, Enlightened Take on Spring Reverb
Gamechanger Audio's Light Pedal is the world’s first optical spring reverb system, bringing the potential for adding new sonic textures to your playing. Though it has a traditional spring reverb tank at its core, the Light Pedal adds an innovative array of infrared optical sensors aimed at different points of the spring to harvest unique overtones and harmonics produced along its length. An expansive mixer section gives you the ability to blend the dry, spring, and optical signals to taste; six additional effects leverage the Light Pedal’s groundbreaking design to allow you to create anything from traditional spring splash to experimental ambient textures. Guitarists at Sweetwater are always looking for new tools to inspire their imagination, and the Gamechanger Audio Light Pedal serves up a truly unique creative platform for adventurous tone chasers and stompbox fanatics.

A traditional spring reverb tank at its core
At the core of the Light Pedal is a traditional spring reverb tank that has all the splash and drip you would expect from a mechanical spring reverb. The engineers at Gamechanger Audio meticulously auditioned numerous combinations of springs and input and output transducers until they landed on just the right flavor of metallic spring jangle. Plus, the Light Pedal gives you the ability to tailor the drip using the Drive knob and to shape the tone of the reverb, from dark and swampy to brilliant and brash. What’s more, you can adjust the Light Pedal’s shock sensor to reduce or eliminate the wet signal when mechanical impact is detected or open it up for stompable tank crash effects.
The world’s first analog optical spring reverb
As the world’s first analog optical spring reverb system, the Light Pedal produces never-before-heard reverberance. The Light Pedal’s infrared optical sensor array extracts sound from multiple points along the spring, highlighting different harmonics, subharmonics, resonances, and overtones. Dive into the Light Pedal’s effects section to select specific combinations of optical sensor pairs via the optics control and dial in the right timbral and textural character to stir a great performance. For musicians who enjoy trekking through the sonic outlands, the Light Pedal is a trailblazing reverb pedal like no other.
Extensive, intuitive controls and effects
While the science behind the Light Pedal is deep, interacting with it is intuitive and inviting. An extended signal mixer section lets you seamlessly blend the dry, spring, and optical signals. On top of the optics effect, the Light Pedal offers sweep, trem, reflect, feedback, and harmonics effects. Sweep rhythmically scrolls through the optical pairs, drawing out the different frequency responses in a modulation-style effect. Trem creates a tremolo effect by switching optical pairs off and on in a rhythmic pattern. Reflect is gritty lo-fi delay that routes your instrument’s signal back through the spring tank several times to create long, swelling reverbs. Feedback sends the spring into self-oscillation for droning, cacophonous ambience. Harmonics employs a specialized circuit to create musical overtones in a similar fashion to shimmer effects, except produced within the spring tank.
Dynamically responsive with mometary and latch modes
For maximum expression, the Light Pedal’s effects are dynamically responsive and stackable by pairing one of the first three effects with one of the remaining three effects. Wrapping it all up, the Light Pedal includes a toggle switch for turning on and off the reverb tail and a second toggle for selecting between latching and momentary operation.
