A Good Ol’ All-analog Phaser Fit for an Outlaw

Arguably the originator of Outlaw country, Waylon Jennings was a restless sonic innovator. A phaser pedal was never far out of his reach during his classic 1970s and 1980s heyday. While he was famous for experimenting with almost every phaser stompbox available, the Fender Waylon Jennings Phaser encapsulates his stage and studio sound into a single box. This pedal provides a rich, full-sounding, and incredibly flexible all-analog phase effect, boasting a design inspired by Fender’s original 1970s-era 4-stage phaser circuit. A trio of control knobs familiar to any phaser aficionado — Range, Rate, and Feedback — allow you to run the gamut of phase tones, but Sweetwater guitarists find that things get interesting when you start experimenting with the 3-position stage switch and so-called “Sweet” switch. Whether you’re a die-hard Hoss devotee or simply seeking a do-it-all phaser to complete your rig, there’s no denying the sheer versatility and vintage-inspired tone of Fender’s Waylon Jennings Phaser.

Versatile Phase and “Sweet” knobs

While the Waylon Jennings Phaser provides a wealth of Waylon-style sounds to choose from, this pedal’s Phase and Sweet knobs offer a remarkable degree of sonic versatility to cover just about any phaser application. First up, the 3-position Phase switch allows you to choose between 2-stage, 4-stage, or 6-stage phaser tones, making it a breeze to dial in everything from a subtle sweep to deep, throaty modulated madness. In comparison, a flick of the aptly titled Sweet knob instantly sends your tone to the so-called “sweet spot” of the phase. While the Sweet mode is engaged, the Waylon Jennings Phaser’s Feedback knob transforms into a blend control to precisely dial in the balance of your dry and wet tone.

Fender Waylon Jennings Phaser Guitar Effects Pedal Features:

  • All-analog phaser pedal, inspired by the legendary Outlaw country icon Waylon Jennings
  • Captures the vibe of Waylon’s funky phased-out country picking, but is also more than versatile enough for all manner of phaser applications
  • Phaser-standard Range, Rate, and Feedback knobs to dial in your tone
  • 3-position Phase switch allows you to choose between 2-stage, 4-stage, or 6-stage phaser
  • Sweet switch instantly locks your tone into the phaser sweet spot while transforming the Feedback knob into a blend control
  • Heavy-duty metal chassis and 1970s-inspired Fender aesthetics
  • Top-mounted jacks for easy integration into a pedalboard
  • True-bypass switching keeps your tone pure when the pedal is disengaged

Reviews

Phaser promise fulfilled
This little ramblin' man delivers everything promised. The multiple stages of phases is good hearted and good timin'. From subtlety to outer-space, this daddy will walk the line. What a beauty! It fills a gap in modulation that I've been looking for for a long time.
Music background: Guitar and vocalist with Quartjar.
Great, versatile phaser!

A lot of features from the stages of phasing i.e.; 2,4,6 to being able to dial in the sound to your expectations in terms of speed and strength. For the most part I leave it on the pedal board with the sweet switch engaged. Good enough for Waylon, good enough for me? Some complain about the signal being distorted. I have never encountered that, period. Another concern is that this pedal is a wee bit power hungry. On battery no problem, but you need an adequate power supply or it won't phase shift! At first I thought my unit was defective. It is not. The best individual power supply I have used is the Truetone 1 Spot Slim 9 volt adaptor. My pedal board is powered by the Fender Engine Room LVL12 and also no problem whatsoever. And yes, agreed, the LED is blinding, however a quick cure to that are some LED Blocking Stickers.. The result is the answer! The pedal case is well built and sturdy. Arguably the best phaser I have ever purchased and I have had a bunch! If you are on the fence just get yourself one and don't look back!!

KIller
Everyone is using the phase 90..... I wanted to try something different, and this is the one.
This pedal is great
Solid pedal. Easy to get a country twang sound.
Music background: Retired. Just having fun.
Wow!
I thought the Phase 90 was perfect and the Phase 95 did it all, but if you like phasers this is pretty fun and has lots of really amazing sounds. A super useable pedal!
