What kind of sound can I expect from the Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic 9-string pickups?

These pickups deliver a powerful, aggressive, and articulate tone, perfect for modern metal and extended-range playing. The ceramic magnets provide tight lows, clear highs, and a focused midrange, ensuring every note on your 9-string guitar cuts through. Their active design offers high output with minimal noise, making them ideal for high-gain applications.

Who are the Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic 9-string pickups best suited for?

These pickups are designed for guitarists playing 9-string instruments who demand modern, high-output tones. They excel in genres like metal, djent, and progressive rock, where clarity, aggression, and extended low-end response are crucial. Both seasoned players and those exploring the sonic possibilities of 9-string guitars will appreciate their performance.

How easy is it to install the Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic 9-string pickups?

Installation is streamlined thanks to Fishman's solderless connectivity, simplifying the wiring process. However, as active pickups, they require a 9V battery (or rechargeable pack) and space for it within your guitar's control cavity. Sweetwater's Sales Engineers can offer personalized advice if you have questions about fitting them into your specific instrument.

What are the main benefits of choosing active pickups like the Fluence Modern Ceramic?

Active pickups offer several advantages, including higher output, lower noise, and a more consistent tone compared to passive designs. The Fluence Modern Ceramic pickups maintain clarity and punch even with long cable runs or complex pedalboards. This makes them excellent for achieving tight, articulate tones, especially in high-gain scenarios.

Can these pickups be used in both the bridge and neck positions on a 9-string guitar?

Yes, the Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic 9-string pickups are versatile and designed to perform exceptionally well in both bridge and neck positions. This allows you to achieve a balanced and powerful tone across your instrument, whether you're looking for crushing bridge riffs or articulate neck lead lines.

Inject your favorite 9-string with a hard-hitting collection of the most sought-after guitar tones with Fishman's Fluence Modern Ceramic humbucker! From cutting active pickup sounds to crisp, fluid tones, these humbuckers handle it all, and unlike most wire-wound models, Fluence pickups manage to deliver that "Modern" sound without noise or inductance issues. On top of that, Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic pickups provide you with three distinctly different voices — a searing active high-output humbucker, an organic passive humbucking tone, and a punchy and powerful overwound single-coil — all from the same pickup. Give your Sweetwater Sales Engineer a call to learn more about the innovative Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic humbucker!

Active electronics deliver Modern tone — without the noise

We all love the sound of vintage pickups. That being said, buzz and inductance issues leave a bit to be desired. With Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic pickups, you can run hundreds of feet of guitar cable without any quality loss. Your volume control will operate with unprecedented smoothness, allowing you to milk useful sounds out of your guitar, even at low settings. To call these pickups "noiseless" would be a grand understatement!

Multi-voice Fluence Modern Ceramic pickup provides three distinct voices

The Fluence Modern offers three unique, selectable voices in a single pickup for unprecedented tonal versatility. This humbucker's first voice is reminiscent of a hot and heavy high-output active pickup — plug into your amp and treat yourself to that familiar crunch and tight low end with a full, boosted sound and killer articulation and dynamics. Yearning for the natural tone of a passive pickup? Flip over to the second voice for precisely that, reminiscent of a rock-solid passive humbucker tailor-made for smooth distortion with excellent response. Rounding out the trio is an overwound single-coil, perfect for muscly leads with zero unwanted noise. The voices can be accessed by any number of standard switches or push/pull controls and can be added as a completely reversible modification to most guitars.
