What is the Fishman VT Powerbridge and what does it do?

The Fishman VT Powerbridge is a replacement bridge for vintage-style Telecaster guitars that adds realistic acoustic guitar sounds to your electric setup. It features individual piezo pickups built into each saddle, allowing you to blend acoustic tones with your electric sound or send them to a separate output for a full acoustic experience.

How does the VT Powerbridge produce acoustic sounds?

The VT Powerbridge uses individual piezo ceramic pickups embedded in each saddle to capture the natural vibrations of your guitar strings. These signals are then routed through the included active Fishman Powerchip preamp, which shapes and boosts the signal to deliver a clear, authentic acoustic guitar tone directly from your Telecaster.

Is the Fishman VT Powerbridge compatible with all Telecaster guitars?

The VT Powerbridge is specifically designed as a direct replacement for vintage-style Telecaster bridges. While it fits many models, it's always best to check your guitar's bridge dimensions against the Powerbridge specifications to ensure a proper fit. A Sweetwater Sales Engineer can help confirm compatibility for your specific Telecaster.

What is involved in installing the VT Powerbridge?

Installation involves replacing your guitar's existing bridge with the Powerbridge and wiring the active Fishman Powerchip preamp. This typically requires routing for a 9V battery and potentially drilling for additional controls or a stereo output jack if you want to blend or separate your electric and acoustic signals. Professional installation is recommended.

How do I power the active Fishman Powerchip in the VT Powerbridge?

The Fishman Powerchip requires a 9-volt battery to operate, which powers the active piezo pickups and preamp. The battery compartment typically needs to be installed in a routed cavity within your guitar. Battery life can vary, but a fresh battery ensures optimal performance and sound quality from your acoustic tones.
