4 Channels of Top-drawer Tube DI
Boasting four channels of vacuum-tube-fueled sound, the Hazelrigg Industries 4DI packs the sonic warmth and harmonic richness of the company's single-channel VDI tube direct injection box into a multichannel rackmount unit. This DI delivers world-class sound for your electric bass, guitar, keyboard, modular synth, or any acoustic instrument with a pickup. And it will inspire your playing, too. Designed for professional recording without the limitations of passive transformer-style direct boxes, the 4DI can handle any instrument you would usually plug into a guitar, bass, or keyboard amp while providing optimal load impedance for superior reproduction over a broad range of instrument levels. Meticulously handcrafted in the USA using top-drawer components such as custom Jensen output transformers and encased in a rugged 1/4-inch-thick aluminum plate, the Hazelrigg Industries 4DI is a superior DI solution for professional touring live sound engineers.

The quest for the ultimate direct box
Since the 1960s, recording engineers have sought sonically superior methods for direct injection of electric bass, guitars, and other instruments that normally plug into an amp. The tradeoffs usually involved settling for a relatively dry and lifeless sound to eliminate room leakage — except for a few innovative proprietary designs. (Hello, Motown!) The Hazelrigg Industries 4DI Vacuum Tube DI is one such inspired design. Through its all-tube circuitry and Jensen transformer-balanced output, electric basses sound vibrant, fat, and punchy. Electric guitars — which typically do not fare well when taken direct — sound (and, just as importantly, respond) like they're plugged into a good tube guitar amp.
Seamlessly interfaces with any setup
Hazelrigg Industries designed the 4DI to interface seamlessly with modern pro setups. Whether you're laying down tracks or mixing front-of-house, the 4-channel 4DI delivers a user-friendly "hot" mic-level output of -30dBm (nominal) that plays nice with professional 150-ohm mic inputs. As you would expect, the 4DI is equipped with Through jacks wired in parallel to the unit's unbalanced inputs for connection to, for instance, a bass or guitar amp. Per-channel Ground Lift switches, locking 1/4-inch input jacks, and a power switch round out the unit's front panel; on the back of the unit are the main transformer-balanced XLR outputs, a standard IEC mains socket, and a 115V/230V mains selector.

Built for years of dependable service
Hazelrigg Industries uses only the finest components throughout the 4DI, with the filament and plate power supplies fully regulated for tour-tough dependability. The casing is machined from a solid 1/4-inch-thick aluminum plate and fashioned into a sleek design that fits conveniently into a 1U rack space. And as with all Hazelrigg Industries gear, the 4DI is scrupulously bench tested for optimum performance and reliability before leaving the factory. For additional peace of mind, it includes Hazelrigg Industries' limited 7-year warranty (90 days for vacuum tubes). With its alluringly amp-like sound and rock-solid build quality, musicians and engineers at Sweetwater are quite taken with the 4DI. You will be, too!
