Reviews

good sound simply
This is a good sounding DI. I bought it because it has a similar (same?) transformer as the Telefunken. I couldn't find any audio samples of this box online. I would liked to have bought both to compare them, but the Telefunken out of stock at the time. Oh well. I saved $ and found happiness.
This BAE passive DI sounds like what I want. It's big bottomed clean and clear, with a vinyl type warmth that makes the bass sit right in a mix. I prefer this to all the DI's I've used yet. I haven't used them all, but I'm cool just working with this until something better jumps in my gig bag.
I bought it for one reason- bass DI. I could see somebody knocking stars off this for a lack of features but it's $ less than the cheapest of the other DI's in its class. It's a great transformer and a great sound, with 2 'thru' if that appeals to you. There are lots of good Di's for this kind of price, but you'll have to spend significantly more to get one that sounds this good (IMO). I've compared this to a few DI's in person- several Radials (JDI, J48, ProDI, Pro48) a BSS; as well as a myriad of devices via online samples. I've used this with passive basses and preamps; both good.

The 2 thrus and 1 input are all wired in parallel, not isolated. It has no pad. Hence the lower price point. -Simple design, good sound.
