Reviews

Great string grip and bite
I totally disagree with the bad reviews, at least for electric guitar. Ebony is for the electric slide guitarist who wants a solid silky grip v sharp metallic slip. While it's true ebony sounds and feels different than metal or glass (more like plexiglass), the hard wood delivers a "Bonnie Raitt" silky sound when paired with the right drive and tone from an amp. I can get a great slide sound out of my regular rig, even with 9.5 strings and lower action. Light touch.
Music background: LIfelong player, classic rock electric and acoustic
Sounds Great for Amplified Acoustic / Pleasantly Surprised
I originally bought the large which was too large for my pinky so I bought a medium. This slide is great for amplified acoustic because it's more muted such that you don't get that banging clanging slide that doesn't come thru on electric slide. Very smooth. I was pleasantly surprised.
Music background: 45+ years on guitar, some years on mandolin, and a couple years on harmonica.
Nice wood, good tone, mediums are too small
Nice wood, good tone, mediums are too small for my ring finger. I doubt the large, if they made one, would fit average hands. Pinky players rejoice.
Music background: Expert gear man and better guitar player
Pretty, but . . .
I own numerous slides in various materials; this just doesn't cut it when compared to brass, nickel, or glass; minimal volume and sustain, really nothing distinctive. That said, my Taylor Koa Mini is my "bell cow" guitar, but Taylor has a novel idea here, it just doesn't work for me.
Music background: Intermediate player, songwriter
Just a poor product
I bought this purely out of curiosity since I have slides made of various other materials and all serve a purpose, so I tried this one. The problems are simple. Wood doesn't make a good slide. The pores and grain of the wood make it grind on the strings. To your hand, the slide will feel very smooth, but against the strings they will grind on every grain of that slide. On top of that, you get low volume and low sustain. These are all dooming qualities for anyone serious about slide guitar. It simply doesn't work. Don't waste your money.
