Reviews

Perfect strings for my Taylor 612ce N
I use this guitar for fingersyle solo vocal accompaniment. These strings make the guitar sound closer to a mellow steel string flat top. And they are super easy on the fingers. Another advantage is tuning stability. They are ready to play immediately after installing them and giving them a little stretch. Unlike traditional nylon strings that continue to stretch and go flat for several days after installation. The ball ends made installation a breeze. So much easier than tying the strings at the bridge.
Music background: Regularly gigging guitarist / vocalist
Fantastic Pre-war era guitar strings.
I have just finished a rebuild on an 1904 George Bauer Parlor guitar. I am very pleased, the tone of the guitar with these strings (KR116) has a remarkable similarity to Robert Johnson's sound. I know that is a bold comparison, but I honestly believe that. The strings feel solid and unique compared to standard nylon, roundwound, and flatwound strings. They feel like a combination of all three. They are not high tension which allows a little peace of mind with a 117 year old guitar. I highly recommend this set if you are looking for period authentic string to the pre-war era guitars.
Music background: Luthier/Guitar Tech/Player for 24 years.
A most incredible string
I was given a set of these strings by Nato Lima (of Los Indios Tabajaras) back in 1995. He said, "Try these--you will get much better results." Man, he wasn't kidding! The guitar in question wasn't a classical guitar per se, but a Brazilian made Del Vecchio resonator guitar, which usually took silk & steel strings. I bought this guitar while on tour of Brazil with Bill Haley, and when we were in Sao Paolo back in 1975. I had always used the recommended silk & steel strings for 20 years...until I was introduced to the Thomastik Classic S rope core strings. There is no better string for the Del Vecchio resonator guitar, which would be considered a "semi-classical" guitar, and which has been a mainstay instrument for Chet Atkins, Earl Klugh, and of course, Nato Lima, and used on a number of their albums. These strings have a sound and tone which is UNSURPASSED!
Music background: Full time professional musician since 1973, clubs, conventions, concerts, recording studio session work.
Ridiculous
Not your typical nylon string or classical guitar feel. A little more gypsy/folk vibe and completely different feel, tension and tone. Installed on a Taylor 714ce-N. Easily the most I have ever spent on strings ( I thought Savarez and Elixir were steep) and too rich to become my go to for everything nylon….. but holy cow. Changes how I play this guitar. Not better but very different than normal nylon strings. They are worth the treat but too expensive to become habit forming. Full disclosure…… I play ultra light flats (.09-.42) on almost all my electrics…… strata, teles, lps and everything in between. What an amazing find and unique treat. Splurge and try a set.
Music background: Chasing the noise in my head for 50 years.
The best
Best strings on the planet. End of story.
