Great thick not as tangling cable.
I use these to connect my katana amp and gt 1000 pedal to mixer and ends seem solid sound clear .. Only thing i noticed is unpacking they wrap some zipties so tight around csble it leaves indents in them. Cant tell if it sounds any differant and i imagine not.I bought one of these cables 7 months ago got a ding in wire probable from amp . i put a little tape and still perfect sound. Guess coating is so thick compared to other cables it can take a nick without internal compromise. Just such a nice cable to be strangled by zipties maybe boss will try something differant in packing a cable tie maybe like most. .lol p.s. Boss should sell screensavers for gt 1000 like most phones they cost alot you would think they throw in first screen savers. One photo shows marks left on cables from a few zipties . Some were loose not to damage cable some were very tight.
2 Stars = Needs Improvement, sorry to say.
Based on a positive experience with Roland Black Series guitar cables, I purchased a 15 foot, Roland Black Series microphone cable for home recording.

At the time, I was hung up on Roland quality. I've barely used the cable since buying it, but today I wanted to work on some vocals. The microphone started cutting in and out on me very badly. Too unreliable to record anything. A swap with an old cable proved it was the Roland cable, not the mic cutting out.

The problem is the female XLR connector; it's barrel diameter is too small, making it loose in the microphone, causing the intermittent connection.

The old cable I drug out has Neutrik connectors, which make a solid, snug fit in the microphone. Problem solved.
From now on, I'm only buying cables with Neutrik connectors.

Roland, you let me down. Your cable connectors did not meet the quality I expected from a Roland product.
QC issues and a lack of high freq brilliance
There was an insane closeout deal on these so I bought a bunch of them based on looks and price alone. The cables have a solid feel to them and on the surface feel like quality builds. However when using them in a session, I noticed periodic drops in level on the channels with these cables. It was easy to tell because I was recording high gain guitars, so a degree of signal consistency is assumed. Swapping the cables for something else immediately solved the issue (in my case I swapped for Hosa Pro, which have unexpectedly proven to be rock solid) - but I was also surprised to find a not-insignificant increase in high frequency detail and brilliance after doing nothing but swapping mic cables. This was obviously not a scientific test, but it leaves enough question as to the build quality and quality control of the Roland cables that I will only use them as a last resort going forward. In addition to the issue of sonics, I find that the female connection fits extremely tight into most microphones - to the extent that I have to use a lot of force to secure a locked connection. This is problematic when attempting to swap a cable without moving the mic positioning at all, or just to plug a mic that has already been placed with precision.
Music background: Engineer and Producer

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
