Convert Your Amp’s Effects Loop from Serial to Parallel

Suhr’s MiniMix II signal line mixer is a purpose-built box that transforms your amplifier’s serial effects loop into an exceptionally transparent-sounding parallel effects loop. This premium device features top-shelf componentry from top to bottom, boasting less than 0.004% total harmonic distortion and noise floor, in addition to a dead flat frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz to keep your amp’s natural tone completely uncolored. Furthermore, the MiniMix II can receive signals from two independent effect processors in a parallel configuration, an isolated transformer to defeat ground loops, and a control jack for the ability to remotely mute either the wet or dry signal. Compatible with both high-impedance instrument-level signals and low-impedance line-level signals, the Suhr MiniMix II allows you to integrate all your cutting-edge digital processing units into your amp while simultaneously ensuring your base tone remains a clear, uncolored, and purely analog.

Note: The Suhr MiniMix II requires effects that are capable of running 100% wet. If you’re unsure if the MiniMix II will work with your setup, make sure to reach out to your Sweetwater Sales Engineer at (800) 222-4700.

What’s the point of parallel?

Unless you’re well-versed in the arcane arts of effects loop wizardry, you might be wondering why one would prefer a parallel effects loop over the more typical series effects loop design. Think of it like this: A series effects loop (and the effects plugged into it) sits directly in between your amp’s preamp and power amp. In comparison, a parallel effects loop allows your pure, uncolored preamp path to go straight into your power amp while also sending a secondary path from the preamp into the effects loop and then into the power amp. Suhr tells Sweetwater that the MiniMix II’s parallel operation ensures that your base tone is always unchanged by buffers and ADA converters on your effects and processor units since the dry path always remains completely independent from the secondary effect-laden path.

Suhr: the pinnacle of craftsmanship, playability, and tone

Suhr doesn’t just build handcrafted, boutique-quality instruments and amplifiers — the company creates exceptional tools that fuel musical dreams and artistic passions. John Suhr began crafting custom guitars in the mid-1970s, and by the dawn of the 1980s, he was building made-to-order Pensa-Suhr instruments for a who’s who of top musicians. In the 1990s, John collaborated with celebrated rig builder Bob Bradshaw to design the now-legendary CAA 3+ and 3+SE preamps and the CAA OD-100 amplifier. In 1997, after a stint as senior master builder for Fender’s Custom Shop, John founded his own company, a decision that enabled him to bring to fruition products of unrivaled quality, detail, and craftsmanship. Today, the Suhr name is synonymous with prestige; a guitar, bass, or amplifier with the Suhr marque garners instant respect. With elite players such as Mateus Asato, Reb Beach, Scott Henderson, James Norbert Ivanyi, Andre Nieri, Pete Thorn, Ian Thornley, Doug Aldrich, and Andy Wood on the company’s roster, you can be certain that your Suhr places you in esteemed company.
